1. Request for quotation for certification
Basic information is provided to the certification body to enable it to calculate the offer: the company's annual energy consumption, the number of energy types in use (e.g., electricity, district heating, fuels), and the most significant areas of energy use (processes, equipment, or buildings). In addition, the number of people whose work tasks affect energy efficiency (e.g., those responsible for energy matters and those who control processes) is reported.
2. Certification audit
The audit is carried out in two stages. In the first stage, the documentation of the energy management system is reviewed and any shortcomings in relation to the requirements of ISO 50001 are identified. Once the shortcomings have been remedied, the audit moves on to the second stage, which involves reviewing the practical implementation of the system. If the audit reveals any non-conformities, a deviation report is written. There is a three-month period for correcting the deviations.
3. Issuing of the certificate
After corrective measures have been taken to remedy any deviations, a certificate is issued that is valid for three years. The DEKRA seal is also awarded in connection with the certificate.
4. Follow-up audit
A more limited follow-up audit is conducted annually to ensure that operations continue to comply with the requirements of ISO 50001.
5. Recertification audit
When the certificate is about to expire, a more comprehensive recertification audit is conducted. Based on this, a new certificate is issued, which is valid for the next three years.
