Industrial inspections in Finland since 1974

DEKRA’s roots in Finland date back to 1974, when we began operations under the name Polartest Oy. Polartest was Finland’s first private inspection body and a major pioneer in the development of the Finnish inspection industry.

Over the decades, our expertise has expanded from traditional auditing to encompass a wide range of testing, certification, and expert services. Today, we help our clients ensure the safety, quality, and compliance of their products, systems, infrastructure, and operating practices throughout their entire lifecycle.

Vehicle Inspection Services to Become Part of DEKRA

In 2021, DEKRA expanded its operations in Finland to include vehicle inspection services by acquiring Tähti Katsastus Oy. The acquisition brought DEKRA into the Finnish vehicle inspection market and sparked strong growth in its nationwide vehicle inspection business. Today, DEKRA Katsastus serves its customers at 29 inspection stations across Finland. Our vehicle inspection business employs over 100 professionals in the field, whose mission is to promote traffic safety and provide customers with independent, high-quality expert service. The growth of our vehicle inspection services has strengthened DEKRA’s position as one of Finland’s leading expert organizations in safety, quality, and road safety.
