DT - destructive testing

Destructive Testing & Lab Analyses

Materials & Lab testing provides accurate and reliable information for manufacturers on the properties of the components and materials or substances they are using or producing. In many cases, testing is also used to confirm that the materials properties are consistent with the documentation and can be safely used in engineering applications or supplied onward to end users.

DEKRA DT Labs & Calibration

DEKRA’s deep experience in testing, our global laboratory facilities and experts offer manufacturers and plant owners cutting-edge materials, parts & substances testing alongside decades of engineering know-how in materials. Through our investments in new technology we aim to deliver the most accurate and reliable information available on the properties of the components and materials or substances you use or produce. This, combined with our market driven approach and unparallel customer service, gives you a trusted testing partner to secure your quality.

Services

Welding method tests:

  • Welding must be carried out using approved welding procedures using the Welding Procedure Specification (WPS)
  • The objective of the welding procedure test is to demonstrate that the welding procedure used achieves a qualitatively satisfactory level of the product to be manufactured.
  • The scope of the inspection is determined by the method test standard used. Product standards and requirements of classification societies may require additional tests to the standard inspection frequency.

Method tests for bending:

  • As required by product standards for cold and hot forming processes for piping.
  • The manufacturer shall demonstrate by bending method tests that the requirements of the product standard are met for the relevant pipe size combinations, material and bending radius, among others.
  • The bending procedure test shall ensure that the material meets the required properties after forming.

Thermal shear method tests:

  • For the thermal shear method test, a preliminary cutting procedure specification (pCPS) is generated and the shear is performed according to this specification.
  • The quality of the cutting surfaces is ensured by the cutting methods checked and tested
  • The testing of the thermal cutting procedure test includes the determination of the roughness of the cutting surface, hardness measurements and the measurement of the perpendicularity and angular tolerance of the cutting edge.

Hot straightening method test:

  • Where hot straightening is used to correct a deformation, a documented hot straightening procedure shall be developed for at least steel grades above S355.
  • The method shall be validated by tensile, impact, and hardness tests.
  • In addition to the method tests, DEKRA is also responsible for the control and non-destructive testing (NDT) of the method tests and for the basic pressure tests.

Muut palvelumme:

  • vaurioselvitykset
  • metallurgia
  • elektronimikroskopia SEM
  • PMI-mittaukset OES- ja XRF-alkuaineanalysaattoreilla.
  • muovien mekaaninen testaus
  • termisen leikkauksen menetelmäkokeiden testaus

Pay attention to following details when ordering a test:

  • Customer should mark test samples with own identifier
  • Test results are sent out by email and by post to the address given by customer
  • Samples and test materials are returned to customer only by request. Test material is saved for a month after testing. In case of returning test material back to customer, handling fee and transportation will be charged.
  • We follow general terms of a conduct (DISE2010) of DEKRA Industrial Oy in all assignments
  • When evaluating the acceptance of testing results, laboratory examines the results directly without factoring in the uncertainty of measurement. This applies to the testing procedures within the scope of accreditation.
